Nick Clegg is very sorry!

I woke up on Friday morning and discovered that the Tories had won an overall majority.

I was not happy.

 "Things could always be worse", Robyn told me off; "you could have woken up in a parallel universe"

"Like what could be worse than five more years of Cameron?"

"Like where Ukip won enough seats to form a coalition with The Scottish Nationalists, Plaid Cymru and a lone member of The Monster Raving Loony Party to create an alliance of like-minded nutters".

And of course where, at the expense of nearly all his fellow LibDem members of parliament, Nick Clegg saved his seat in Sheffield despite having broken his heartfelt pledge not to increase college fees for students.

That could never happen in our own universe, now could it?
