So tired.

We came down off the 'Walkie Talkie' and grabbed something to eat, then headed to The Tower of London on a bus - partly for the view of Tower Bridge;

We checked out 'The Beefeaters' at the gate;

Had a look at the castle - the four towers in the middle are the Norman Keep;

We had our lunch by the little section of Roman city wall that still survive near The Tower;

It may be better quality stone than the Roman walls we saw at Silchester, but it was built the same way - with layers of tile, every so often.

Then we were back on another bus, through The City and past St. Pauls Cathedral and on our way to Parliament Square for a view of Westminster Abbey and then Parliament itself;

And at 6-00pm the chimes of 'Big Ben', soon due for repairs;

Then we struggled off down Birdcage Walk, for a look at this;

Just outside Buckingham Palace.

I must admit, not too much of this was my kind of thing and, by the end of it, I was about as exhausted as I ever have been.

But you have to show people the sights and I think we did.

At the Top of The Town.

After a day's break, we were off again - showing Cathy and Robert (Robyn's Mum and Dad) around London.

It was gruelling.

Robyn had booked tickets to the 'Walkie Talkie' at 20 Fenchurch St. They are still free!

On the way we stopped of at 'The Monument' which was built to commemorate The Great Fire of London;

These days it's dominated by the tower blocks all around - when it was built it was challenging the tallest buildings in London.

We got to the tower and negotiated the security - it is always worth it;

Tower bridge was looking good and we were even able to see Canary Wharf. The tube trains look like toys in the distance;

The height makes the old 'Post Office Tower' look quite close to St. Pauls Cathedral;

While we felt we could touch 'The Gherkin'.

But we had a long way to go before we were finished;

I'll post the rest tomorrow.
