Congratulations!

I took this picture from The New York Knicks facebook page (they won again and Lang got another 12 points) and as you can see it shows a very happy Langston Galloway signing a contract with the Knicks.

I know, I know, I know....I promised no more basketball stories but I've been trying to mend our toilet. Do you really want to see me getting filthy and sweaty and hurting my bad back?

No don't answer that.

We are both very proud of Lang, it's a tremendous achievement.

Signed up!

It’s been an amazing three weeks and a real privilege to watch it all happen, but this is the last of my basketball reports.

Langston Galloway has been signed to The New York Knicks after a couple of days of real ‘hardball’.

It’s been amazing because over these few weeks Lang got his big chance to play for a Major League team and we got a chance to see him play for them….by accident.

Then, playing for a great team which was having a terrible season, Lang had a burst of fantastic form which made everybody realise how good he was.

I was following his games on fans websites and reading US sports reports stats – I couldn’t believe how well it was going.

And now?

What a fantastic career he is going to have.

Langston Galloway, Knicks agree to contract for 2015-16

By Marc Berman

January 27, 2015 | 10:54am

Unheralded Knicks guard Langston Galloway became a free agent when his 10-day contract expired Tuesday.

The Knicks and point guard Langston Galloway have agreed to terms on a contract for the remainder of this season and a partially guaranteed pact for 2015-16, The Post has learned, after the rookie’s second 10-day contract expired Tuesday.

The negotiations were over whether the Knicks were willing to give Galloway guaranteed money for next season. The Knicks — who cancelled Tuesday’s practice because of the snowstorm — initially offered only a non-guaranteed pact for 2015-16. Galloway was asking for the $800,000 minimum for second-year players.

Galloway was briefly a free agent Tuesday morning, technically, and may have gained leverage with other teams interested in signing him after a breakout month of January.

Knicks president Phil Jackson is very protective of his cap space, with potentially $32 million available to spend on free agents this offseason.

Jackson didn’t exercise the $2 million option on Shane Larkin’s pact for next season – with indications he does not believe the undersized, speedy point guard is part of the Knicks’ future.

Galloway has been one of the positive developments to an otherwise brutal season since joining the team three weeks ago from the team’s D-League affiliate in Westchester. Galloway also was on the team’s summer-league squad after going undrafted. It was surprising any contract impasse occurred at all.

The 6-foot-2 Galloway, who has started the past four games, is averaging 12.1 points and 4.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Go Lang!

Give him what ever he wants!

OK, after tomorrow if Langston Galloway isn’t signed up........

Lang is Robyn’s cousin and we were lucky enough to get tickets to see the New York Knicks play at The London O2 a fortnight ago.

In my match report I told you all how great he was – remember…..you read it here first.

Report: Knicks working to sign Langston Galloway for the rest of the season

Sean Highkin

Langston Galloway

The Knicks’ season is a disaster, but they may have found a diamond in the rough with former D-League point guard Langston Galloway. They signed him to two 10-day contracts and RealGM’s Shams Charania reports that they’re hoping to sign him for the rest of the year:

Langston Galloway and the New York Knicks are in talks on a deal, league sources tell RealGM.

Galloway is on his second 10-day contract with the Knicks.

Multiple NBA teams are prepared to engage with Galloway should he become a free agent.

In eight games, Galloway is averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

It looks like the Knicks and Galloway will keep talking on Tuesday.

No deal reached between Langston Galloway and New York, and both sides will carry over negotiations Tuesday, league sources tells RealGM.

This is a good move by the Knicks. Galloway has shown that he belongs at the NBA level during the short time he has been in New York.

The Knicks would be fools to not sign him. Give him whatever he wants! The three game winning streak they had can be credited largely to him.

I’m with El Camino Billy!

Langsanity?

GO LANG!

It just gets better and better as this New York Post article shows;

The Knicks’ adviser who pushed for Langston Galloway

By Marc Berman

January 21, 2015

PHILADELPHIA — Credit Phil Jackson’s top adviser, Clarence Gaines Jr., forplaying a part in “Langsanity.’’

According to a source, Gaines, the only front-office personnel man Jackson has hired to date, was the top supporter for bringing new combo guard Langston Galloway into the fold after he went undrafted in June out of little St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia.

Who knew Galloway could turn into a more promising Knicks rookie than Cleanthony Early, drafted at No. 34. Galloway, a live wire on both ends of the court in five games, is averaging 12 points in 25 minutes.

The source said Gaines first saw Galloway at the Portsmouth, Va. pre-draft camp last spring. Gaines, the Bulls’ college scout when Jackson coached Chicago, has a knack for discovering guys who fit into Jackson’s team-player mold and has the president’s ear, according to the source.

Galloway will be back in the town where he played his college ball on Wednesday to face the Sixers as the new starting guard for the Knicks — turning into a bright light in a catastrophic season.

“It was a little disappointing [not being drafted],’’ said Galloway, coming off his career-high 21 points in the Knicks’ 99-92 victory Monday over New Orleans.

“At the same time, I took a day off and headed back to work to try to prove I belong in this league and was going to get to the league one day. I just got to work hard and continue to prove myself and grow as a player.’’

After Galloway went undrafted, the Knicks invited him to join their summer league team and he excelled in Las Vegas. It earned him an invitation to training camp but he got cut — lost in a numbers game behind point guards Shane Larkin, Pablo Prigioni and Jose Calderon. Galloway continued to impress Jackson/Gaines after picked up by the D-League Westchester Knicks that kept him in the triangle system.

“[Langston] has been what we thought he could be,’’ coach Derek Fisher said.

“Which is why we wanted him with our organization since this summer. Not just making shots but having the type of mindset you want to have on your team. For a young guy he’s tough-minded, not afraid to compete against the best.

He’s showing that.’’

Galloway patterned his game after Chauncey Billups. The Knicks coach won’t admit it but there are similarities between Fisher the player and Galloway.

“I heard people mention it to me,’’ Fisher said. “I’m very reluctant to get into comparisons. He’s got a very high ceiling.’’

Galloway, whom the Knicks signed two weeks ago, will have a cheering section Wednesday at Wachovia Center.

“It will be fun — a lot of my friends and family will be at the game,’’ Galloway said. “I’m excited to play in Philly again.’’

Langsanity? More like Langfever I think.

Double Whammy!

Last night The New York Knicks beat The New Orleans Pelicans 96 – 92 at Madison Square Garden, ending the longest spell of losses you can imagine. They were ahead for most of the game, playing strongly too. I was trying to keep up with the game on an internet dongle – no broadband.

What a night that would have been at The Garden.

My interest in that game is purely because Robyn’s cousin Langston Galloway has just signed a second 10 day contract with the Knicks and we were lucky enough to get to watch him play at the London 02 last week.

Lang done good – he scored a massive 21 points (Joint best score with Camelio Anthony, the Knicks star forward) and was also credited with 3 assists.

GO LANG!

There was a lot of pressure on him – The Knicks need to see the light now and offer him a proper contract.

Their next game is on Wednesday against The 76’ers from Philadelphia.

That’s a problem; Robyn and most of her family are from Philly.

Whatever; this Blog stuck its reputation on the line when it called out Lang as the best player on The Knicks team last week.

I don’t often make predictions but that one came good…..now it’s time for a proper contract. How about it Phil?

The second Whammy? I had to go back to Charing Cross Hospital today. It’s not that clear cut (it never will be from now on) but nothing is happening for another month and I’m not going to grumble over that.

Between now and the beginning of February the nights will get just that little bit lighter and the opportunities for getting into trouble just that little bit easier.

Look on it this way; it’s not 28 days, it’s 282,240 minutes.

A lot can happen in a minute.

Ten days more.

This blog doesn’t pretend to be a Basketball Blog but after we were lucky enough to get tickets for the New York Knicks game at the London O2 last Thursday, I’m going to be following Langston Galloway’s career.

He’s Robyn’s cousin.

Tonight, he’s in all our thoughts; The Knicks are playing The New Orleans pelicans and the game means a lot for Lang, as you can see;

New York Daily news 17th January 2015.

The Knicks made some minor news on Saturday without dumping salary or losing a game.

Langston Galloway, an energetic, undrafted rookie guard, was signed to a second 10-day contract after a four-game audition, team president Phil Jackson announced.

In a season full of lows, Galloway’s play has been a pleasant surprise.

Through his brief tenure with the Knicks, the former D-League standout has averaged 9.8 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds over 24.2 minutes a game.

On Jan. 7, the 6-2, 200-pound Saint Joseph’s product signed his first Knicks contract, becoming the Westchester Knicks’ first ever call-up.

In his Garden debut on Jan. 8 against the Houston Rockets, he had 19 points, including a rim-rattling put-back dunk.

Once Galloway’s second 10-day contract concludes, he will either be signed for the rest of the season or cut.

The Knicks were off on Saturday, perhaps licking their wounds after a 95-79 loss to the Bucks in London’s sold-out O2 Arena on Thursday, their 16th straight loss, a single-season franchise record.

The club has dropped 26 of its last 27 games and hit the half-way point of the 82-game season with an NBA worst 5-36 record.

The Knicks will try to emerge from their nosedive on Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Garden before hitting the road to face the built-to-tank Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday in a race to the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

It’s going to be a tough ten days for Lang so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for him!

A special night in London Town; The New York Knicks vs The Milwaukee Bucks at The O2.

I have to admit that I never thought it would ever work out; Robyn’s cousin Lang Galloway was going to try to get us tickets for the New York Knicks vs Milwaukee Bucks Basketball game at the O2 in London.

I didn’t think it would ever work out because it wasn’t just any game; this was Major League Basketball and absolutely every American in London was going to want to be there. The tickets had sold out months ago…we know, we’d tried to find some.

And neither of us are feeling very lucky at the moment.

Anyway, we went to the Dome on a freezing night, cold and windy and while we were waiting, we walked down to the Thames to look at the view. It was depressing, the wind ripped into us. It was dark and cold.

I felt quite ill and wasn’t looking forward to climbing up to a seat up in the roof, somewhere near where the spotlights are. And I’m scared of heights!

We queued up and waited to be told to ‘go away’. All around us were a mixture of arrogant journalists, TV people and fashionable hangers-on waiting for their tickets.

We could not believe our eyes! There were tickets for us!

The journey in was like a dream; the NBA organised a group of people to cheer everyone (prepared to run the gauntlet) as they came into the foyer. We did it twice!

Then we had another long queue, then security, then up an escalator and then we were in the arena.

You know what it’s like in an arena– we came out about halfway up the seating, looking down onto the floodlight court far below. Any sporting event has that amazing buzz of excitement about it.

Wow!

It wouldn’t have been the same for me if they hadn’t had the big display (which Robyn told me is called the Jumbotron).

We had no idea where we were going…so we asked.

“Down there”

We headed down the steps and every time we came to anyone we asked again and they pointed further down. We couldn’t believe it as we got down to the floor of the court itself.

We were ringside! Actually we were just behind The Knicks themselves.

Just behind the water carriers.

We were like a couple of kids, full of the wonder of it all. Watching the media and all the fashionable people in the good seats.

This was the hottest pair of tickets in town, let me tell you.

While we were waiting, the jumbotron picked out the famous people from the crowd. Most of Arsenal Football club were there, including the great Thierry Henri from the past and Per Mertersacker from the current team. Cesc Fabregas was there from Chelsea. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

There were a lot of people who had brought entourages with them. There were body guards.

It was the only place to be.

There was a parade of famous players from the past – I couldn’t make them out but Robyn told me that Hakeem was there, John Starks, Kareem and here is Dkembe Motombo himself;

We saw a lot of him – he walked through the crowd a couple of times letting endless fans take selfies with him, full of patience for them. I was impressed by the man.

There were cheer leaders and acrobats. There were Pom-Poms. There were hotdogs and beer. People fired free gifts into the crowd from gas-fired guns. There was an organ playing, confetti flying and dancing mascots;

And then there were the two of us, waiting soberly, respectably, quietly and very sensibly for Lang Galloway to come out.
GO LANG!

We saw everything; all the building excitement of the practise session, the thrill of the game.

The Knicks came to London without a hope – they are on a long, long losing run. Lang got called up a week or two ago – his first game was last week. How lucky were we to be there – it was just by chance he was in London tonight.

I’m biased, of course, but I watched the practise very carefully. Most of The Knicks missed their shots…not a great sign for the game but Lang got all but one of his shots….in the basket.

Then the game was off with all the excitement and razzamatazz you would expect from the Major league.

Within about 2 minutes, The Knicks were 6 points down….I had no idea what was going on and the Coach called a ‘Time-Out’.

We were right there!

Right in the middle of the action, watching the individual water bottles being filled and passed out, the Gatorade, the towels being grabbed. We could see the coach's strategy board. I have to say that Head Coach Derek Fisher gave a very restrained team talk - I think Robyn would have given them a real roasting if she'd had a chance!
We watched as Lang had to be treated by the Doctor;

That happened twice. It was a tough game and he was always in the thick of it while he was playing. He scored 5 points and at least three assists that I counted, maybe more.
All the way through, The Bucks kept a lead that was about 20 points plus. It was tough going. Towards the end, they started to wobble. As you can see from the scoreboard, it ended up at 95-79….The Knicks had begun to pull it back.

If I had a criticism it was that while I may not be an expert on the game, even I could see how good Lang was but because he was new to the team he wasn’t yet in a position to get the support he needed.
He is definitely going all the way.
Then suddenly it was all over; where did the whole evening go?
At halftime, they played Frank Sinatra singing about a foggy London Town. It was very special indeed.
And I just love the Jumbotron;

As the teams were leaving Lang came over to see Robyn, which was just the nicest thing to do…it was very emotional;

We were both really touched that we’d been given a once in a lifetime chance to see something really exciting and to be ringside…just the greatest experience ever.

It was awesome!

And we even managed to get hold of a foam hand!

Thanks Lang, we’ll never forget that night.

Just for the record, in two years of blogging, this is the first time I have used the word ‘awesome’.

Wish us luck!

That's not very good - my banner still needs some work on it.

It should say; "Go Lang" because a little miracle has just happened.

My partner Robyn has missed out on Christmas and New Year's, Thanksgiving and her birthday all at the same time. I was badly ill, so was my Mum - it's all been terrible.

Then her cousin Lang Galloway gets called up to play for the mighty New York Knicks last week and what does he do on his first game? He scores 19 points and then there are the assists as well.

He's a bit of a star.

Then last weekend, in the middle of all the nightmare, Robyn gets a message that The Knicks are playing an MBA game at The O2 today!

We couldn't do anything - the tickets were sold out ages ago and the cheapest on the resale market were £140 each.

Today we heard there's a chance that Lang's here an he may be able to get Robyn tickets!

I'm not counting my chickens until they are hatched but heck.....I'm painting up our banner all the same!

GO LANG!

If it doesn't work out we'll stand outside the Dome for a laugh!

Wish us luck, it's the chance of a lifetime.
