Wednesday night.

The table set, mattresses out on the floor, hot meals bubbling on the stove.

Wednesday night was freezing cold and foggy and we were at Robyn's church in Isleworth; it was their turn to host some of West London's homeless for the night.

We could have done with out it - both of us had overdone it during the day....we both had bad backs. It seemed like a better idea when we agreed to it.

But in this freezing cold, miserable weather? There was a record number of guests trying to get into the warm for the night.
I wouldn't have been anywhere else.

Of course, the state should be providing help for the homeless and vulnerable, it shouldn't be up to people like Robyn to make up the difference on nights like this.
