The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to hats.

Since I said I was going to burn my hat, I’ve had some criticism and then this morning this ‘Press Release’ came in the e-mail. Bit puzzling.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Hats.

                   Press Release

Ever since the creation of our society in 1888, following the infamous series of  attacks on flat caps in the dark alleys and wharves of the East End of London {The Hat Ripper}, our society has fought against cruelty to hats.

From throwing hats in the air in celebration to stamping on hats in a rage, it is always the poor, defenceless hat that suffers.

Our aim is never again to hear those terrible words; “Well, I’ll eat my hat” or ‘mad as a hatter’. Must we even mention the Mexican Hat dance?

It has come to our notice that when this Blog reaches 5000 page views, a cruel and heartless Blogger intends to burn his hat, in public and in full view of any passing hats who could be caused unnecessary distress and suffering as a result.

It is with great regret that we are no longer able to certify that:

“No hats were harmed in the making of this Blog”.
